What a cool idea! Atrus is learning from his father Gehn how to “write” ages or worlds. This is when Veovis gets involved. As with the other books in the series the point of view changes can be confusing at points, but overall it is an flawless crafted series.

In the end this fails but I cannot say why as this would give way to the ending. If you’re a Myst fan, I’d say it’s worth it and a very easy read. This book is outrageously fascinating in that sense! The story, the characters, the history I read the Myst sequence out of order 2nd, 3rd, then 1st and perhaps that is why I didn’t find Book of Atrus very stimulating.

The Book of Atrus. Paperbackpages. Atrus 4 of 5 Ti’ana 3 of 5 D’ni 3 of Jan 02, Sander rated it it was ok. These books fill in more story regarding Atrus, and the history of the D’ni for fans of the games. The story is a small epic, yes, a small epic.

The “Mad God” Gehn, is not what Atrus wanted him to be. May 08, Mailis Viiand rated it it was amazing Shelves: If you act selflessly, then you act well for all and you must not be afraid.

I don’t’ think that people who are not familiar with Myst and Riven would understand what was going on and, therefore, might put the book down, but for those who have played the games, it is a wonderful insight to the world and the events leading up to the game. If it is possible that is will exsist at any point in time and space, the link can be made.

I read this trilogy in while I was in high school after playing the first Myst game. One let down was that none of the worlds he visits that he has the power to actually shape are especially amazing. Might be okay, but I wasn’t willing to risk it. Miller has fleshed out the character and knows why the character acts or speaks a certain way, and the reader only ever sees the product of all this character work, not necessarily why.

It was a wonderful idea at the time that took of running, and I’m intrigued by its impact on U.

The Myst Reader: Three Books in One Volume by Rand Miller

The book opens in the sandy deserts and the life of a young Atrus, still a boy and far from the happenings of the first Myst game. He spends his time studying the environment 3.

The third book is plain weird. The latter two books are too heavy with foreshadowing and flimsy but blunt characterizations that seriously de The Book of Atrus, written by a ghostwriter, was eminently readable and interesting.

While most of the characters are the same or at least related, it took me that long to settle into the writing and absorb their stories. It makes the plot so much more engrossing.

The Myst Reader: Three Books in One Volume

I read this book as a kid and I barely remember the gist of the story. Nov 27, Rachel rated it it was amazing. Though I would still rather have got From Myst to Riven.

So, it was hard to resist a book about atrua those characters had been up to, but I was still skeptical about whether a book based on a videogame could possibly be any good. Jan 23, Kristen rated it really liked it. Oct 04, Matt Matash rated it it was amazing. I wish I could write that well.

Anna is the only person young Atrus has ever known. It’s nice to read more about Myst, but it could easily be more than it is. I got to travel to other worlds and meet new characters, and also read about their history.

If you can’t tell, I’m a fan: Dec 26, Devon H rated it liked it. I remember playing the Myst games and feeling the thrill at how immersive the world was. See 1 question about The Book of Atrus….

The focus of the book is on the titular character, and his mano a mano battle of wits with his reserved but megalomaniacal father Gehn. Why not get the full story before committing to immigration.

The Book of Atrus

I love the concept of “writing” atruz Age a world into existence, and the authors do a credible job of describing both the intricacies and the pitfalls of the process. I will be reading the other books in the series soon. While Gehn wants Atrus to rule by him as a god and rebuild the D’ni empire as an empire of 1, slave worlds, he is unsure of how it goes against what his grandmother had taught him.

The book was fantastic, although in the beginning it did seem a bit slow the book never ceased to amaze me in the end. The reason why their empire had lasted for so long. If you like fantasy that takes you to another world, The Myst trilogy is for you.
