He then calls and visits his girlfriend Leslie, presuming her ignorant of the situation, but she realizes it independently when Jupiter brightens with appropriate delay; they then enjoy their last night on the town, before rain and winds start.
Like the way he got his theories wrong a few times in coming to his final conclusion. He has since lived in Los Angeles suburbs, including Chatsworth and Tarzana, as a full-time writer.

These stories to me represent a new direction in science fiction for me, although in later years I realise he can be quite narrow minded in his views and I see he has collected so criticism niben it.

A Known Space story, first of “Gil the Arm” line. Not really science fiction. Jul 21, Stephen rated it liked it Shelves: The sun had gone nova. Massive, rapid changes in the heat equilibrium would, for one thing, cause major storms. Belters didn’t get addicted to current stimulation, so why did the spacer die with electrodes in his brain? This was one of my first introductions to Larry Niven. The story ended on a really cool note.
