Sep 17, Micahb rated it really liked it. Hinds takes several pages just to gageth the fight in all of its gory goodness! This is a decent graphic novel adaptation of Beowulf, which gives a good impression of the three main fights that dominate the poem.
Hinds deftly conveys emotion in his choice of colors and his use of detail in the drawings. I wanted to show people how cool a story this really is. Tilendis lives a deceptively quiet life.

Just look at how many times this book has been gageth. Item s unavailable for purchase. Gareth Hinds does graphics for computer games and apparently reinvents classics as graphic novels in his spare time. Each of the sections has a slightly different feel to it, giving the reader a clear sense of divide between each of the epic challenges Beowulf faces.

Gareth Hinds’s Beowulf
This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. Spectacular visuals accompanying a well known story makes for a fascinating experience. I don’t think I am the right person to review this, as I found it difficult to absorb any of the plot or meaning, I was reading the words but not really understanding them.
Even for a strong reader with an excellent translation, Beowulf is not an easy read on the first go. What really gets me about the whole thing is the lack of beowjlf and, I think, understanding of the source material.
The King’s Son who feared Nothing. Then he must yinds with Grendel’s mother, when she comes to avenge her son’s fate; the third chapter deals with the mournful end to the hero’s life, resulting from a battle with an enormous dragon.
He wanted to make use of some of the great stories from history, believing that they could be adapted for the comic book world.

The problem with this is that you lose a lot of the literary nuance that makes Beowulf such a remarkable poem. The book is well designed, carefully laid out and printed on a good grade of glossy paper. Beowulf is certainly heroic as he battles the formidable Grendel, Grendel’s mother and a fearsome dragon before he ultimately perishes.
BeowulfGraphic Classics. One of the things I really like about Hinds’s adaptation is related to my relative inexperience with graphic literature. For fantasy fans both young and old, this makes an ideal introduction to a story without which the entire fantasy genre would look very different; many scenes may be too intense for very young readers. The dirty browns and beaten tans are offset by the flat metal glint of chain-mail and swords.
A beautiful peace of literature if I have ever seen one.
First we’ll discuss the pallet. The colors lent emotion and tone to the story. In addition to the text on the page, the image makes immediately clear to the reader two things: It’s missing a lot of the prose, gsreth still a nice collector’s edition for Beowulf fans.
