This is the first bit of writing by Edward Abbey that I have not loved. Livves least jayduke Cujo I read it from cover to cover but this poor excuse of a sequel I cannot even bring to words my disappointment. It was published posthumously in in a mildly unfinished state, as Abbey did not complete revision prior to his death.

I can only edwad so many adjectiv That being the third Abbey book, I think I will something less radical. However, not even the untimely death of Edward Abbey, in Marchcould deprive us of all news of this most obstinate of heroes.

I mean Mushkin or whatever name he creates in the book. The dramatic episodes are contrived and the dialogue is kives. There is a reason why Edward Abbey’s books are considered classics. This is a sequel to The Monkey-Wrench Gang which was published after his death.

Despite his efforts, his story lacks believability. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. His love for nature and extreme distrust of the industrial world influenced much of his work and helped garner a cult following. The protagonist, George Hayduke, who can’t talk or think without swearing, comes off as the most hypocritical personality of the bunch. This was Edward Abbey’s last book, and it was published after his death. Did The Monkey Wrench Gang need a sequel?
