Into Darkness is one of the stories which I think I would have been able to appreciate much more with a degree in physics one day…. In a short story, usually the nifty “what if” grreg is the point of the whole exercise, and if you can’t buy into it you can’t enjoy the story.

The Walk 23 pages: The biologically-leaning stories were the easiest to comprehend for me, as I have tertiary biological education. Fans of hard SF and cyberpunk should enjoy Axiomatic. There are naturally a few duds among these stories but enough really good ones to make up for them. That said, “The Moral Virologist,” in which a religiously fanatical virologist engineers and releases what he considers God’s Plague only to discover that the Devil is in the details, is axiomatid chilling to someone who grew up in an “End Times” home.

Nobody died axiomatif Belson. Nowhere more so than in “Wang’s Carpets”, which is also part of Diasporaand which I think surely one of the several very best SF stories of the ’90s. It’s difficult for me to judge. Also, by transplanting the jewels into cloned bodies genetically altered to develop without brains, they can live youthfully forever.
